20

Okay, I know it says “19″, but this will bring it up to twenty.

I know it’s still early days! But still! Twenty in a row!

This is cause for celebration.

This is also a shoddy excuse for a blog post for the sake of making a blog post. Sorry everyone. I couldn’t find anything interesting to take a picture of today.

Because I was bored today, I pulled out all my Asian CDs and took a picture.

There’s eighty-seven CDs there.

Oh dear. All of a sudden I feel like the wasted money is staring me in the face.

I wonder how much the total would be including English ones?

I went to Casula Mall for a haircut today.

I am now convinced that the 852 bus is where souls go to die.

Three hours Friday, Mar 27 2009

17

Because my timetable is badly planned, I have a three hour break between a lecture and a tutorial on Friday.

I’m in the library working on yet another Contemporary China assignment.

When you walk in, it’s almost frightening how hard everyone is working. Heads down, pens moving.

It’s almost like a battery farm except with students hard at work instead of very tired chickens.

Lunch break.

The bad part about International Studies is that everyone studies something different so you never have a whole bunch of classes in common.

I look around the courtyard and there are all these people in groups.

And here I am.

By myself.

On my laptop.

On WordPress.

Good job, Tim!

You never get a chance to wear this sort of gear in a humanities-related course, so today I borrowed somebody else’s and proceeded to wear it for an hour in downtown Sydney.

It was very hot! I wonder how people can wear this sort of thing for two hours in a row?

I handed in that resume today as well. I was really surprised; I thought I’d just hand it in, leave, and be called if they were interested.

But instead, the manager came out and started talking to me in Japanese.

In the end, I didn’t get the job because they had no hall staff positions left.

I wonder though; would I have gotten a job if I’d said kitchen staff instead?

Today was Dad’s birthday; we went to eat at a sushi train. I would say it was because of the occasion, but we eat at sushi trains semi-frequently. :D

In any case, when you look at the photo, you see regular old sushi, correct?

Anyone with eyes can see that. Probably only someone who was an expert on sushi could tell the fast-food kind and the real kind apart, unless the latter was really classy-looking.

In any case, did you know that most of the Japanese fast-food restaurants or food court stands are run by Korean people?

In most cases, you can barely tell the difference.

But I wonder; wouldn’t it make more sense to sell Korean food if you were Korean? I mean, that’s probably what you’re most confident cooking, right?

I think I’d fail miserably if I was a chef at say, an Indian or Mexican restaurant.

I thought at first that maybe it would be because Japanese food is a bigger seller; but Korean things are really popular nowadays, aren’t they?

Well, I guess if it still tastes good it really doesn’t matter. :)

Possibly one of the most aesthetically unpleasing billboards ever.

Today I’m somewhere I haven’t been to in quite a while. Do you recognise it?

Actually I’m here to do research for a Contemporary China assignment; I was supposed to do it at Macquarie on Friday since their library isn’t crippled like this one, but unfortunately I was distracted by the mad scientist-esque death traps in their library basement.

As you can see, I’ve pulled out an inordinate amount of books from which to draw information from.

And the likely case will probably be that all of them, save maybe two, will be completely useless.

At least it’s only eight hundred words.

Selling yourself Saturday, Mar 21 2009

11

This is already old hat for just about everyone else, but today I finally got around to writing my first resume.

Ignore the bald man; I just haven’t gotten around to taking a picture of me with a nice shirt yet.

To be honest, at this point I really don’t understand the need for a resume; as soon as they see “first year uni student”, they likely assume I have little to no work experience. I think potential employers are looking more for the mere fact that an individual has enough initiative to make a resume, full stop.

I won’t put down where I’m applying in case employers get Google-happy, but I’m betting I probably won’t get it anyway.

Which reminds me, can everyone do me the favor of not typing out my full name? :)
